AI Drafts™
What is the purpose of AI Drafts™?
AI Drafts™ are designed to help you create a first draft of any legal documents and preparation materials in minutes rather than hours. You can start with your own prompt, or pick from a list of the most common prompts. Alternatively, you can use one of EvenUp’s Express document templates such as Express Demands™, Medical Summaries, Negotiation Sheets, and Complaints.
How do I get started with AI Drafts™?
Before you begin, make sure AI Drafts™ are enabled for your firm. You’ll need the right permissions to create or view cases. Firm Admins and request creators can automatically see their cases, while other team members who did not create the case will need to be added as Collaborators.
Once AI Drafts™ are enabled, start by creating a case. Upload all relevant files (PDFs only) and then request your new AI Draft from the document chooser. Currently, AI Drafts™ work best for motor vehicle collision, premises liability, and animal bite cases with a single plaintiff (and ideally under 300 pages of records), but the product is open to any case type.
If your case has over 300 pages, you’ll receive an alert that this may slow down generation time. Like any AI, the more pages uploaded the more prone the output is to error or missing information. Although still extremely high quality, we ask you to review outputs more thoroughly as page counts increase above 300 pages.
What can I do with an AI Draft™?
When you open a new AI Draft™, you'll notice a clean, open space and a prompt bar with two options:
  • Blank Draft: This is where the true power of AI Drafts™ shines. You can ask EvenUp to create a wide variety of legal documents with freeform prompting. There are example prompts listed for you to get started with.
  • Express Templates: These are designed to give you a quick start on some common legal tasks. Simply click on the suggestions, and it will automatically populate the prompt bar. You can even modify the suggested prompts to perfectly fit your needs before submitting.
Do I still need to review the AI Drafts™ that EvenUp generates?
Yes. The output is only intended to be an efficient first draft, and still needs human review. Please note that the following parts of a legal document require review and input so this can become a ready-to-send document:
  • Formatting and presentation: Embedded pictures/videos
  • Legal substantive work: State-specific statutes, county-specific rules of civil procedure, case type-specific theories of liability (for cases outside of motor vehicle accident, premises liability, and animal bites), estimated settlement values and case law evaluations, and expert/legal professional review
  • Please review the Facts and Liability section for accuracy for any AI Draft
What do I do if I generate an AI Draft and realize I forgot to upload a document to the case? Or if I later want to include new information, such as new medical bills, as I receive it?
EvenUp allows you to regenerate an AI Draft anytime there are changes to the files on the case. This means, if you need to upload a file to the case, or if you need to delete a file on the case, you can regenerate any AI Draft to reflect the most up to date information. As soon as there’s a change to case files, you will see a button appear to regenerate the AI Draft. In minutes, you will see a Preview of your AI Draft for review. You’ll be able to review it side-by-side with the latest version of the AI Draft, and you can either accept the new version or dismiss it. You can always access it in your version history if you change your mind.
When should I use an Express Template over a Blank Draft?
EvenUp’s Express Templates (Express Demands™, Medical Summaries, Negotiation Sheets, and Complaints) offer pre-defined AI prompt templates for consistency, whereas the Blank Draft gives customers more control and variability. If you need to draft any document besides the types listed above, use the Blank Draft function.
For example, Blank Drafts are ideal for:
  • Pre-drafting ideas for common documents before refining
  • Summaries of any documents
  • Deposition summaries
  • Emails to clients, adjusters, or opposing counsel
  • Counter-arguments or responses to common points from the defense
  • Case summaries or short overviews that don’t require deep chronology
  • Quick outlines or updates
  • Litigation documents
What are my options when editing my AI Drafts™ in EvenUp’s Workstation?
Workstation is where you can review, edit, and finalize your blank draft. Think of it as Microsoft Word or Google Docs, but purpose-built for personal injury documents. Your Workstation tools include:
  • Document Editor in the center for all your edits
  • Table of Contents for quick navigation
  • Exhibit Management to organize and format supporting documents
  • Version History so you never lose your work and can revert to previous versions
  • EvenUp’s AI Assistant, Case Companion™, is directly integrated to help answer questions about the case
Is there a limit to how many people can draft multiple documents in the same case?
Only one person should edit the same document at a time to prevent version conflicts. If multiple users are accessing the same case’s Workstation at once, an alert banner will appear to prompt you to close any additional sessions.

Multiple people can edit different documents for the same case at the same time.
What are Smart Citations?
AI Drafts™ generates Smart Citations for key citations throughout the document. You can click on the highlighted text to pull up the supporting files and view them side by side. The files will open to the exact page with the exact line of the Smart Citation’s source, with a line-level highlight to help you identify the exact source on the page.
How do I utilize the AI Edits feature?
In editing mode, highlight the text you’d like to edit, and a toolbar will appear with four options:
  • Write any Prompt: Freeform description of edits you’d like to make.
  • Polish: Refine text for clarity and brevity with correct grammar and spelling.
  • Advocate: Make this text more aggressive, but still professional.
  • Elaborate: Add in additional context.
Additionally, users can click the sparkle icon at the beginning of any paragraph to generate new content. For example, if you’d like to add a summary of future medical treatments, tap the sparkle icon to prompt EvenUp’s Piai™ to create an informed statement about future care needs.

After performing an AI Edit, you’ll wait momentarily for a response. Once the response is available, you can take several actions:
  • Modify the text directly, before replacing or inserting it in your draft.
  • Reprompt to come up with totally new language.
  • Replace the highlighted text with your edited text.
  • Insert your new text below the highlighted text.
  • Discard the AI Edit.
Please note that only one AI Edit can be open at a time. If you attempt to run another AI Edit while one is open, you will receive an alert that you must resolve the open AI Edit. After you have resolved your edit, you can continue creating other AI-assisted edits throughout your draft.
How do I manage exhibits within AI Drafts™?
EvenUp will automatically group your uploaded files into exhibits based on type and provider. You can rename, reorder, include/exclude, and even add custom cover pages to each exhibit.

Please note that non-PDF files won’t open in Workstation, but can still be downloaded. We recommend converting non-PDF files (such as images) to PDFs prior to use in Workstation.
How do I generate and download my AI Drafts™ package?
Once you’re happy with your AI Draft™, click Download in the upper-right corner. EvenUp will compile the document and exhibits into a single package. Please note only .docx files are supported at this time.

If you’d like to see older downloaded versions, click the dropdown menu next to Download to access previously exported drafts.
Medical Summaries™
Within the AI Drafts™ product suite, what is the purpose of Medical Summaries?
Medical Summaries are designed to summarize the plaintiff’s key treatments and tests resulting from the incident. Instead of digging through thousands of pages of records, you can quickly understand key medical events—like doctor visits, diagnoses, and treatments—all laid out in chronological order. Each entry is backed by specific documentation.

Medical Summaries can be very useful when preparing for depositions, mediation, arbitration, or trial. When shared with the defense, a well-crafted medical summary can also serve as a persuasive advocacy tool, highlighting the plaintiff’s experience in a compelling, organized way.

Please note that Medical Summaries is still in beta testing mode, and therefore will require additional review from customers. Customer feedback is open and welcome to help shape this offering.
What is the difference between MedChrons™ and Medical Summaries?
EvenUp’s expert-prepared MedChrons™ are more comprehensive and include a full nurse review. In comparison, Medical Summaries within EvenUp’s AI Drafts™ efficiently summarize key details, helping legal teams get oriented and move faster on cases.

The aspects below are NOT included in an EvenUp’s Medical Summaries, but ARE included in MedChrons™:
  • Chronological treatment history
  • Provider's name, specialization, and services rendered
  • Significant injuries diagnosed as a direct result of the incident
  • Complaints, diagnoses, and treatments at each visit
  • Objective tests and their findings
  • Interventional treatments performed or recommended
  • Referrals to other providers
  • Persistent symptoms and their impact on the claimant
  • Mentions of prior health conditions that may be related to the injuries related to the case
When will my Medical Summary be ready?
After selecting Medical Summary and filling out the request form, you will be routed to a loading page. In less than 20 minutes, you will receive an email notification that your Medical Summary is ready. While you wait, you may work on other documents in the Workstation.

When you receive the email, click “Review my Medical Summary” to open your Medical Summary in Workstation and begin reviewing and editing.
Can I sort and group the summaries by provider?
Summaries are strictly chronological at this time.
Do I still need to review the medical summaries for accuracy?
Yes. While we aim for precision, this is an AI-generated document and should always be reviewed before sharing externally. Use Smart Citations to easily double-check the source for each entry.
Negotiation Sheets
Within the AI Drafts™ product suite, what is the purpose of Negotiation Sheets?
EvenUp’s Negotiation Sheets are part of our AI Drafts™ product suite, built to help you create any legal document in minutes, not hours. The Negotiation Sheet is built to help you confidently prepare for discussions with adjusters. By surfacing key information, arguments, and counterarguments, it ensures you remain on the offensive and ready to advocate effectively.

Please note that Negotiation Sheets is still in beta testing mode, and therefore will require additional review from customers. Customer feedback is open and welcome to help shape this offering.

Complaints
Within the AI Drafts™ product suite, what is the purpose of Complaints?
EvenUp’s Complaints are part of our AI Drafts™ product suite, built to help you create any legal document in minutes, not hours. The Complaint is the first formal document filed in court by a plaintiff to initiate the case. It outlines who the parties are, why the plaintiff is suing the defendant, and what the plaintiff is seeking in damages. It must establish that, if the facts and allegations are true, the defendant would be liable. In addition, it must establish that the court has jurisdiction over the case.

Please note that Complaints is still in beta testing mode, and therefore will require additional review from customers. Customer feedback is open and welcome to help shape this offering.
