AI Playbooks™
What is an AI Playbook?
AI Playbooks reads your case files and pulls out the insights you need every time you upload new documents—equipping firms to make faster, smarter decisions across their entire caseload.

AI Playbooks helps firms:
  • Drive proactive case decisions by automatically flagging issues that could compromise case value, such as liability, prior injuries, or conflicting testimony.
  • Identify high-value opportunities with AI that proactively flags cases with TBI indicators, commercial defendants, and DUI indicators so you can staff and prioritize accordingly.
  • Standardize case evaluation with automated analysis to consistently apply firm policies.
How do I get started with AI Playbooks?
Fill out the AI Playbooks setup survey. Within the survey, let us know what information you want extracted from your firm’s cases. A few examples include: property damage, plaintiff driving motorcycle, emergency medical services at scene, and liability. By the beginning of August, firm admins will be able to directly configure AI Playbooks from the EvenUp platform.

After the firm admin submits your setup survey, it will take about one week to receive your AI Playbooks results for up to three test cases. Once the firm admin approves the results, the EvenUp team will publish the playbook for your firm. At that point, AI Playbooks will appear as a new tab on your cases page within the EvenUp platform.

AI Playbooks run automatically when the first case file is added to a case, and automatically runs thereafter. This ensures your playbook results stay current as case materials are updated.
Who has access to AI Playbooks?
The case creator and collaborators will have access to the AI Playbooks on a case.
How many questions can I include in my AI Playbook?
Each firm can include up to 10 questions total. These questions can be distributed across multiple playbooks if desired, but most firms find it more effective to use one comprehensive playbook.
When do AI Playbooks run automatically?
AI Playbooks run automatically when the first case file is added to a case, and automatically runs thereafter. This ensures your playbook results stay current as case materials are updated.
How do I refresh an AI Playbook?
While the playbooks run automatically in the evenings, if new files are added to a case that day, we recommend clicking the “Refresh” icon to ensure you’re working with the most up to date information.
What can I do with AI Playbooks at each stage of the case lifecycle?
AI Playbooks surfaces critical insights throughout the entire case lifecycle. The type of insights we can help surface at each case stage include:
  • Intake: Determine whether or not to take on a case, identify high-value cases, and systematically flag critical factors that drive case value.
Examples: Incident summaries, liability, past injuries, past treatments, significant property damage, and commercial defendants.
  • Treatment: Consider important details necessary for building a strong case, and screen for litigation-worthy opportunities.
Examples: TBI indicators, commercial defendants, DUI indicators, significant property damage, medical inconsistencies, and the severity of the plaintiff’s injuries.
  • Negotiation: Highlight important details for settlement discussions.
Examples: Incident summaries, liability, past injuries, and past treatments.
  • Litigation: Transition each case with comprehensive summaries and proactively identify any inconsistencies.
Examples: Corporate defendants, TBI indicators, prior accidents, and conflicting testimonies.
When Should I use AI Playbook vs. Case Companion?
AI Playbooks offers automated insights on every case, whereas Case Companion allows you to ask questions as they come up throughout a case, in addition to any follow-up questions. With AI Playbooks, all case collaborators have visibility into the same set of information for consistent case context, while Case Companion™’s threads are only available to the individual.
What is the difference between AI Playbooks and Case Preparation?
AI Playbooks have customizable insights that fill in firm-specific gaps. Case Preparation offers uniform insights across every case.

Smart Workflows™
What is the purpose of Smart Workflows?
Smart Workflows enables law firms to set up rules that automatically determine when a Demand™ should be submitted, based on relevant case data (including medical spend, policy limits, and injury severity). This results in faster case resolution and higher settlements. Smart Workflows is ideal for EvenUp customers who have integrated their Case Management System (CMS) with EvenUp’s comprehensive Claims Intelligence Platform™.
Where does Smart Workflows provide the most value?
Smart Workflows benefits firms with high case volumes that strive to earn more profits by maximizing case settlement values and minimizing carrying costs. Many firms see significant delays between treatment completion and demand submission. This is where Smart Workflows comes in, mitigating the following challenges:
  • Large Caseloads: With case managers and attorneys each handling up to 100 cases at a time, it can be overwhelming to prioritize which cases need immediate attention. Smart Workflows helps align their daily decisions with the firm's overall goals.
  • High Staff Turnover: When there is high turnover in support staff positions, institutional knowledge about optimal case handling can be lost. Smart Workflows enables firms to maintain consistent practices.
  • Limited Visibility: Without timely insight into case progression and staff decision-making, firm leaders may resort to excessive micromanagement and overly simplistic blanket policies like “wait until all treatment is complete”. Smart Workflows equips leadership with informed, actionable analytics on firm performance.
Who from my firm can use Smart Workflows?
Both firm managers and other firm users can benefit from Smart Workflows:
  • Firm managers include managing attorneys, firm owners, and heads of operations. Within Smart Workflows, firm managers are responsible for defining, setting up, and monitoring firm “rules” determined in your settings on the EvenUp platform. Smart Workflows helps leadership decrease carrying costs by automating notifications and guiding staff when a case is demand-ready. It also provides visibility into case progress and team actions through customized rule history. These are users with “Firm Admin” access in EvenUp.
  • Other firm users may include case managers and attorneys. Within Smart Workflows, firm users are responsible for responding to notifications by either accepting (and then generating a Demand™) or rejecting (and providing a reason why).
How do I get started with Smart Workflows?
To access Smart Workflows, you must have the Workflow & Insights pricing bundle. Smart Workflows is currently in beta, so you must reach out to your Customer Success Manager to get added to the beta waitlist. Customers will be onboarded on a rolling basis.

Once you have access, go to the EvenUp portal, and navigate to Settings, where you will see Smart Workflows on the left-hand side. Activate the “Ready for Demand” rules according to your firm's preferences.

Based on the custom rules you have set for your firm, your team will receive email notifications when your cases reach “Ready for Demand” status.

You can then either “Accept” and request a Demand™ to be generated, or dismiss/reject the status and provide a reason why.

Firm managers will be able to view case analytics on rule notifications and actions taken by users in your firm.
How many rules can I create in Smart Workflows?
You can choose from a list of 8 pre-built rules that are industry best practice. You can turn any of them on or off at any time, and customize the thresholds to your preference.
Can I pause or disable a rule without deleting it?
Yes, simply turn the rule off. You can turn it back on at any time.
What happens if multiple rules trigger “ready for demand” in the same case?
You will receive a daily email notification with a summary of all the rules that have been triggered that day, organized by case.
How often can I update the Smart Workflows rules?
You can update the rules at any time and as often as you’d like. Once you save the changes, the rule will be applied to all of your cases on EvenUp.
How often does Smart Workflows update case data?
For integration customers, Smart Workflows syncs case data multiple times a day through the API integration, ensuring decisions are based on the most current information available. For non-integration customers, please make sure to manually upload new case files on a regular basis to ensure EvenUp has the most current information.

For all customers, Smart Workflows rule evaluation will run once per day, triggering notifications if any rules have been met.
What is the history dashboard?
The History tab shows a comprehensive view of all Smart Workflows data. This dashboard shows which cases triggered a rule, what notifications were sent, who approved or dismissed the notification, and what actions were taken. Rule History creates transparency, accountability, and consistency across your team, without constant follow-ups or micromanagement. Only users with Firm Admin access in EvenUp can view Rule History.
Who sees the history dashboard, and how often does it update?
Users with “Firm Admin” permissions in EvenUp will have access to the history dashboard. The dashboard updates on a daily basis.
