Faster medical record review
Fielding Law Group, a pre-litigation and litigation firm founded in 2009, has offices across Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. The firm consists of 100+ staff and 16 attorneys.
To manage the scaling firm size and continuous growth, the firm operates on a specialized departmental model. This includes dedicated teams for all aspects of a case lifecycle through litigation. With each stage having their own dedicated paralegal.
However, this departmentalized structure created a case-handoff bottleneck. While each team was an expert in their specific phase, case momentum stalled when moving a case to the new department. Each new paralegal assigned to the case had to pause and manually re-read the entire file to get up to speed. This repetitive, labor-intensive review process created significant delays and threatened to impact overall settlement values.
Fielding Law Group needed to transform these manual handoffs into a streamlined workflow that could pass accurate, actionable information from one department to the next without losing time. They looked to EvenUp’s Personal Injury AI Platform™ to maintain their high standards of advocacy while managing their high case volume.
Once a case moves to the First 7 Days department, a paralegal could spend around 90 minutes re-reviewing prior records, police reports, incident summaries, and more. This period is the most vital for identifying bad facts and verifying coverage, yet the First 7 Days team was burdened by manually re-working through information already gathered at intake. These bottlenecks slowed cases from moving forward to the next department.
By implementing EvenUp’s AI Playbooks™, the firm has automated case reviews starting with the First 7 Days department. This automation addresses the pivotal handoff phase, a time when paralegals are required to rapidly master every nuance of a case file. Fielding Law Group worked closely with EvenUp to build custom playbooks tailored to their department organization, starting with the First 7 Days department. This supports paralegals to instantly surface liability details and medical red flags without having to manually comb through every file from scratch.
This shift enables the intake team to reduce review time from 90 minutes to 10 minutes, ensuring that no buried injury is ever missed.
It's been pretty awesome to be able to be on top of cases and not miss things that we have in the past. AI Playbooks are so much more thorough. All of it is there. Plus it gives you the links to each thing. If you have any questions about what it generated, it's easy to click and pull the information up.

FThe treatment department, prior to EvenUp, lost valuable time re-reviewing files to understand the case’s current treatment status. The paralegal manually managed medical records by highlighting and bookmarking every date of service and cross-referencing them with bills. If a bill was missed, due to manual oversight, it often went undiscovered until the end of a case, forcing the firm to pay out-of-pocket for costs not included in the settlement.
Today, Fielding Law Group utilizes EvenUp’s AI Playbooks™, Medical Management™, and Missing Docs Check to mitigate these challenges. Custom playbooks now run automatically, proactively surfacing information such as prior injuries, provider information, and ongoing care. This critical data enables paralegals to hit the ground running in a matter of minutes rather than hours.
Central to this new workflow is the Medical Management™ solution’s Care Timeline, which provides a visual, interactive chronology of a client’s treatment history. Instead of building manual spreadsheets, staff can now see a snapshot of every visit, specialist transition, and treatment gap at a glance.
The firm runs the Missing Doc Check regularly per case to identify if there are any missing bills or records. This ensures medical costs are accounted for in the demand and protects the firm’s bottom line while maximizing the client’s net recovery.
The team also utilizes Companion™’s firmwide search capabilities during their weekly team meetings. Every Monday, team leads will run Companion’s firmwide analyses to surface cases that may be missing a critical MRI, flag plaintiffs who show signs of an undiagnosed TBI, and identify high-value cases warranting closer attorney attention. Rather than relying on case managers to manually track these gaps across hundreds of cases, Fielding Law Group has Companion as the trigger for action. When Companion identifies a case in need of next steps, the relevant attorney will be notified and assigned a task to follow up.
Companion’s new firmwide capabilities are awesome for identifying high value cases so that we can have our attorney team leads check in on those cases and make sure we're doing what we're supposed to.

Before EvenUp, document generation was a grueling, labor-intensive task that required paralegals to spend several hours manually drafting each demand.
By implementing Express Demands™, EvenUp automatically pulls the most relevant medical evidence and critical case details into a high quality draft, ready for attorney review in a fraction of the time. This shift has not only cleared the previous backlog but has enabled the firm to maintain consistency across all cases.
We’ve gone from having a paralegal spend several hours writing a single demand to being able to generate it in just minutes. In terms of overall efficiency, that transition is a huge deal for our firm.

Fielding Law Group’s efficiencies have led to greater negotiation leverage and increased overall average settlement. The firm has seen a direct correlation between their EvenUp adoption and the offers they are receiving.
When an insurance adjuster claims a specific injury wasn’t documented or disputes a date of service, the negotiations team can now search Companion™ in real-time. Companion provides an immediate response, citing the exact page and citation in the medical records. This real-time access to data has fundamentally shifted the power dynamic in favor of the firm, giving attorneys more confidence during negotiations.
Our negotiations team started using Companion™ on every case when we're trying to settle and negotiate with the insurance adjuster. We've seen an increase of $2,000 to $3,000 per case by being able to answer in real time.

Previously, attorneys and paralegals spent significant time manually reviewing old police reports and medical files to prepare for litigation. Identifying case weaknesses was a slow, manual process that often left the team defensive when responding to opposition counsel.
Now using Companion™, the team can get accident summaries quickly, helping support preparation ahead of trial deadlines. Instead of digging through archives to locate and re-read police reports or medical records, Companion™ helps provide instant accident summaries and to get up to speed in a fraction of the time.
With AI Playbooks™, Fielding Law Group is prepared with a faster understanding of a case’s foundation. Paralegals have also used AI Playbooks™ to proactively flag any potential opposing counsel objections.
By identifying gaps and potential issues earlier, Fielding Law Group’s litigators can address weaknesses before they are exploited by the defense. This shift from reactive searching to proactive strategy allows the firm to build stronger cases from the start of the litigation process.
The partnership with EvenUp has redefined the operational efficiencies at Fielding Law Group. By transitioning from a labor-intensive, manual model to a high-velocity, AI-supported workflow, the firm has successfully managed rapid expansion across the Pacific Northwest without compromising its commitment to excellence.
The firm eliminated the transfer gap that previously stalled case momentum. This allows paralegals to onboard in minutes rather than hours. The shift has also helped in maximizing the bottom line by capturing medical costs earlier in the case lifecycle and leveraging real-time data to secure an additional o $3,000 in settlement value per case.
Together, these workflow improvements allow Fielding Law Group to scale case volume while maintaining consistency across departments.
