To manage the scaling firm size and continuous growth, the firm operates on a specialized departmental model. This includes dedicated teams for all aspects of a case lifecycle through litigation. With each stage having their own dedicated paralegal.
However, this departmentalized structure created a case-handoff bottleneck. While each team was an expert in their specific phase, case momentum stalled when moving a case to the new department. Each new paralegal assigned to the case had to pause and manually re-read the entire file to get up to speed. Once a case moves to the First 7 Days department, a paralegal could spend around 90 minutes re-reviewing prior records, police reports, incident summaries, and more. This period is the most vital for identifying bad facts and verifying coverage, yet the First 7 Days team was burdened by manually re-working through information already gathered at intake. These bottlenecks slowed cases from moving forward to the next department.
By implementing EvenUp’s AI Playbooks™, the firm has automated case reviews starting with the First 7 Days department. This automation addresses the pivotal handoff phase, a time when paralegals are required to rapidly master every nuance of a case file. The team also utilizes Companion™’s firmwide search capabilities during their weekly team meetings. Every Monday, team leads will run Companion’s firmwide analyses to surface cases that may be missing a critical MRI, flag plaintiffs who show signs of an undiagnosed TBI, and identify high-value cases warranting closer attorney attention. Rather than relying on case managers to manually track these gaps across hundreds of cases, Fielding Law Group has Companion as the trigger for action. When Companion identifies a case in need of next steps, the relevant attorney will be notified and assigned a task to follow up.
