The Challenge

Manual Workflows Slowed a New Firm Needing to Scale

Trident Legal is a civil litigation firm based in Glendale, California, founded just over a year ago by three partners: Sergo Aivazov, Patrick Allahverdian, and Aslan Petrosyan. The firm focuses primarily on personal injury, with most of its cases involving motor vehicle accidents and some lemon law cases. With their first group of cases now moving into litigation, Trident Legal is entering a pivotal phase of growth.

During its first year, the biggest operational bottleneck Trident Legal had was demand production. Before EvenUp, demand letters were written manually, which took a significant amount of time. Tracking all medical records, ensuring no bills and records were missing, and reconciling treatment timelines across multiple providers added even more friction and further increased time on desk. With the firm struggling to get demand packages sent in a timely manner, client communication suffered. Following up with clients on treatment appointments fell through the cracks, causing treatment gaps that affected case value.

With a growing caseload and no ability to add staff, the partners knew they needed a better system to set their new firm up for success. Allahverdian, who discovered EvenUp and brought it to the firm, was impressed by EvenUp’s rapid growth. With a deep focus on personal injury and significant engineering and financial resources backing it, Allahverdian knew EvenUp was the right AI company to partner with.

Today, Trident Legal uses EvenUp across every stage of the case lifecycle, from pre-litigation through litigation and resolution.

The Solution

Full Visibility Into Treatment History Helps Protect Case Value

Before EvenUp, medical record review was one of the biggest bottlenecks for Trident Legal in getting demand packages out quickly.

Now, with EvenUp, the partners have instant visibility into their clients’ treatment. The Medical Management Care Timeline clearly highlights treatment gaps and flags missed appointments via email. This allows the firm to see when client follow-up is necessary, serving as a proactive safeguard that protects case value before problems compound. The Care Timeline also provides an overview of the client’s treatment history at a glance, making it easy for staff to refresh their memory as they are working a case.

When the firm was manually reviewing large volumes of documents, important details buried in doctors’ notes and similar records were also being overlooked. These included complaints of pain made by their client during a medical appointment or symptoms that weren’t followed up on. Lacking clarity about a client’s treatment history hindered the firm’s ability to properly advocate for them. Now, Trident Legal trusts that EvenUp will surface those important details that might have been missed before.

As a client’s treatment nears completion, the partners use Missing Docs Check to ensure that all records and bills are accounted for before creating a demand package, telling them exactly what’s missing, eliminating time wasted on manual checks.

Demand Quality Cut Adjuster Response Time in Half

During its first year of business, Trident Legal struggled to get demands out soon after a client’s treatment concluded. Ensuring the demand package was thorough enough to withstand adjuster scrutiny added more time to their plate.

EvenUp’s Express Demands™ enables Trident Legal to get demands out much faster while also improving demand quality. Before EvenUp, drafting a demand package required significant effort, starting from a blank page in Microsoft Word. Now, once a client completes treatment, a full demand is generated within less than an hour. This allows the lawyers to spend more time on their priority cases.

You get taken more seriously as a firm because of the quality of EvenUp’s demands.

The quality improvement of their demands has also been a competitive differentiator, and the partners believe it has helped them to be taken more seriously by insurance adjusters. Demands now include thorough medical treatment summaries, future care projections, and diagnostic coding that allow insurance adjusters to quickly determine the value of a case.

The diagnostic codes are a new addition to Trident Legal’s demands. The partners never attempted to add them before EvenUp because it took too much time. However, since these codes are used by adjusters to assess case value, they believe they have helped reduce the time it takes adjusters to review and issue an offer.

Adjusters who used to take 30 days to respond are now responding in 10 to 14 days, allowing cases to settle faster.

Companion™ Serves as a Real-Time Negotiation Coach

One of the most frequently used tools for the Trident Legal team has been Companion, EvenUp’s AI assistant. The use cases range from quick information inquiries (eg. asking for the total amount of medical bills for a particular case) and case analysis, to real-time negotiation coaching when an adjuster calls unexpectedly.

Aivazov uses Companion™ on calls with adjusters, as well as EvenUp’s Strengths and Weaknesses tool, which summarizes key case details in an easily digestible format. This helps him see how best to defend the weaker elements of the case while ensuring he leads with the strongest value drivers.

With EvenUp, all of the strengths and weaknesses are right there anytime an adjuster calls — things that typically aren’t readily available unless you keep very detailed tracking of all your cases. EvenUp helps me negotiate on the spot.

During negotiations, Aivazov will even share the adjuster’s offer with Companion™, and Companion™ will suggest a counteroffer based on the case facts and potential value. This helps ensure Trident Legal doesn’t leave any money on the table during negotiations.

AI Drafts™ Saves 10+ Hrs Per Week Previously Spent on Discovery

As Trident Legal’s cases move into litigation, the firm has begun leaning heavily on EvenUp’s AI Drafts tool for drafting. The firm is using AI Drafts™ for responses to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.

The partners use AI Drafts™ on 100% of their cases, helping to eliminate about half the work needed to draft the documents. By uploading a previously approved response document, the platform learns the firm’s voice, style, and structure, and replicates it going forward on similar document types with minimal prompting.

The partners like how easy it is to customize each document within EvenUp’s personal injury editor, Workstation, to adapt the tone, condense or elaborate certain sections, and more. The more they have used AI Drafts, the more EvenUp’s AI has learned their writing preferences.

The in-line citations throughout each AI Draft give Trident confidence that the documents EvenUp generates are accurate. Each citation shows them the specific lines in the case files where the information was pulled from, helping them validate in seconds.

Overall, by using EvenUp’s AI Drafts™ for all of the firm’s legal drafting, the firm estimates it saves more than 10 hours per attorney per week.

The Result

Trident Legal has deliberately built its operational infrastructure from day one. By choosing EvenUp early, the partners have created systems that will only compound in value as the firm grows.

I can’t imagine not having a software like EvenUp in five or ten years. It’s just going to simplify your work so much more and ensure you have the right systems in place.

For Trident Legal, EvenUp isn’t just a tool. It’s a growth partner. The partners appreciate that EvenUp is continually adding new features and improvements to the platform.

EvenUp was interested in streamlining everything, which we really appreciated. And they were constantly looking for new ways to add to their platform to make it easier for law firms to use. We’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Trident Legal

The firm is excited about EvenUp’s Communication Agents, particularly for client treatment follow-ups. There simply aren’t enough hours in the new firm’s day for its case managers to routinely follow up with clients. Trident Legal estimates that Communication Agents could save the firm an additional 10+ hours per week and free up its case managers to focus on substantive litigation support.

Trident Legal views EvenUp as an investment for the firm’s future growth. As the platform improves, so too will Trident Legal’s case management.
