Initial offers
Faster medical review (hours to 15 mins)
Hours saved on complex demands
Holland Injury Law is a St. Louis based personal injury trial firm serving clients across Missouri. The pre-litigation and litigation firm was founded by William Holland in 2018.
Before EvenUp, Holland’s attorneys and paralegals carried the full weight of medical review, treatment tracking, and demand preparation by hand. Attorneys read hundreds of pages of medical records to make sure every visit appeared in the narrative, while treatment gaps were recorded as notes in their case management system. Complex demands could take 20 to 30 hours, requiring page-by-page review, detailed billing analysis, and manually logging CPT codes. That time came directly out of case strategy, client contact, and courtroom preparation.
To serve clients better and move cases forward faster without compromising its standards, Holland Injury Law adopted EvenUp’s Proactive Personal Injury AI Platform™. The firm began with demand drafting, then expanded its use of EvenUp after attorneys saw accurate medical content, healthier initial offers, and more time to move cases into negotiation.
Opening a claim with an insurance adjuster meant picking up the phone, but it pulled paralegals and attorneys at Holland Injury away from higher-value tasks.
Holland Injury Law has started to introduce EvenUp’s Communication Agents™ into the opening claims workflow. It has saved time outside of being on the phone for the attorneys and they can work while the Communications Agent is calling on their behalf.
Prior to EvenUp, attorneys and staff spent hundreds of hours sifting through thousands of pages of records per case to collect and analyze treatment histories, prior injuries, referrals, and outstanding documentation. Attorneys would leave a note of treatments in their case management note section. While the attorneys remained organized, their CMS did not allow for an easy way to surface treatment gaps across the case. This labor-intensive and manual process diverted time away from client communications and strategic case planning.
Holland now uses EvenUp’s Medical Management™, AI Drafts™ Medical Summaries, and Companion™, to create a consistent starting point for every case. Medical Management™ organizes provider details into a visual chronology, while Treatment Gap flags and Missing Doc Alerts help the team catch mismatched bills and missing records before those details delay a settlement.
The added visibility also speeds up case review and improves client communication. When an attorney needs to call a client about a complicated medical history, Case Companion™ provides a concise, sourced overview before the conversation begins. Time that would’ve taken hours to review years of medical treatment, now takes 15 minutes.
Additionally, paralegals are now able to move beyond collecting documents. They can use the treatment timeline to quickly reacquaint themselves with the case and flag gaps in records and treatment.
"EvenUp allows you to have a more interactive conversation not only about strategy but about the injuries, how it truly affects the human being, outside of what's in the record."

Streamlining the Demand Drafting Process saving up to 30 hours
Prior to adopting EvenUp, demand drafting at Holland Injury was a fully manual process. Standard cases were repetitive, while complex matters could take days. Attorneys were required to review every single page of medical records to ensure every key detail was captured in the narrative. Demand backlogs would start to begin before attorneys could even begin their review.
By leveraging EvenUp’s Demands™ and Express Demands™, Holland Injury Law now has high-quality drafts in 30 minutes. EvenUp automatically structures injury details, medical records, billing data, and CPT codes prior to attorney review, all while reflecting the firm’s preferred writing style. The team still reviews and finalizes each Express Demand™, but no longer begins from a blank page.
The result is not simply faster drafting. EvenUp gives the attorneys more time to evaluate the case, prepare for the next case stage, and strengthen smaller cases that might otherwise receive a lighter presentation.
Higher Initial Offers Before Negotiations Become Drawn Out
Before EvenUp, Holland Injury’s cases often required multiple rounds of negotiation or filing suit. The team had to invest substantial time developing each medical detail before an insurer could fully evaluate the claim.
EvenUp now helps the firm present diagnostic codes, visit-by-visit medical narratives, and supporting records in a more complete demand package. The result has been healthier initial offers and a shorter distance between the firm’s position and the adjuster’s first response.
“With EvenUp, we’re getting initial offers that are healthier and higher.”

Additionally, attorneys are using AI Drafts™ Negotiation Sheets and Case Companion™ to pinpoint issues such as pre-existing conditions and identify information that may affect the value of a claim when preparing for adjuster calls.
Before EvenUp, attorneys prepared thoroughly but still had to search through records when a question surfaced during a deposition, mediation, or adjuster conversation. Confirming a single fact could mean flipping through medical records, handwritten notes, and file materials while the conversation was already underway.
One of the biggest surprises for the firm was how much attorneys came to rely on Companion™ for real-time fact-checking. During one deposition, an attorney used the Companion™ to investigate a discrepancy over whether a plaintiff had reported hitting her head in a crash. Instead of flipping through pages of records live, the attorney pulled up the answer in Companion™ in seconds. Companion also helps attorneys prepare for client calls, whether it’s their own case or a partner’s, by asking a series of questions to get a quick summary and walk into a client conversation with confidence.
"With EvenUp, I can familiarize myself with years of medical treatment in 15 minutes if I need to."

Before EvenUp, trial preparation required attorneys and paralegals to manually review medical records and maintain their own case summaries. That burden was especially significant for a trial-focused firm with dozens of active litigation matters.
Holland Injury now uses MedChrons™ to organize the medical story before mediations and trial preparation. The tools provide a structured chronology, surface prior injuries and treatment gaps, and link key facts back to the underlying records so the team can verify the source. Attorneys can also use Case Companion™ to prepare client calls, identify factual weaknesses, and locate the details needed to develop a defense.
That preparation gives the firm more time for higher-value legal work. The time saved on repetitive review now goes toward trial preparation, motions, client conversations, and deeper work on existing cases rather than simply increasing the firm’s caseload.
For Holland Injury Law, EvenUp has become part of the firm’s daily workflow without displacing the human judgment at the center of its practice. Attorneys still review demands, speak directly with clients, prepare for trial, and make the strategic decisions that shape each case.
That shift to EvenUp has enabled Holland Injury to improve the quality of the client care. Holland has kept its emphasis on personal client communication while giving attorneys and paralegals tools that surface missing information, organize medical histories, and prepare case materials.
"Emotion and empathy are what set us apart from the machines, but if we can utilize AI to make ourselves more efficient, then we have to do that, not only for ourselves to stay competitive, but for our clients. EvenUp has improved our ability to articulate case facts not only knowledgeable but at a rapid pace."
